Election officials are the backbone of our democracy — ensuring every vote is counted and every election is secure. But right now, these essential workers aren’t afforded the same protections other public servants receive.
SB 82 bill would classify election officials as designated public service workers, safeguarding their personal information — like home addresses and phone numbers — from public records requests.
Law enforcement officers, judges, and emergency responders already have this protection. It's time to extend it to those who make free and fair elections possible.
Election officials have faced increasing threats and harassment simply for doing their jobs. No one should have to fear for their safety while serving our democracy. SB 82 is a common-sense, nonpartisan step to protect them just as they protect our elections.

This could mean you are not an Ohio resident, or that you have newly elected members in both the Ohio House and Ohio Senate, which has not yet updated their new member contacts. If it is the latter, please try again in a few days. Please reach out to Elisabeth Warner with any questions at ewarner@lwvohio.org.
