1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men experience severe intimate partner physical violence, intimate partner contact sexual violence, and/or intimate partner stalking. Young women between the ages of 18 and 34 experience the highest rate of intimate partner violence and sexual assault, and within this number more than 3/4 of female victims of intimate partner violence have been previously victimized by the same offender. Communities of color and the LGBTQ community are at even greater risk.
